Chapter 1: The Twist

“Eenie,” Bill Cipher’s non-existent smile widened sadistically as he rolled the dice of the two Pines’ twins fates he clenched in his hand, his pupil glaring red light like a deadly spotlight at the children. His first choice: the pine tree.

“Meenie,” The kids were trying to break free. Pine Tree was ‘punching’ with all his noodle arms could muster and Shooting Star was attempting to pry herself out of Bill’s bear trap fist wrapped around the both of them. The yellow triangle switched his eye to the shooting star, tempted to shake his head at their protests. Pathetic.

“Miney,” He changed his shooting star-shaped orb into a tree again, making the two twins turn, their faces artworks of pure horror. Two more seconds before he’d take the life of one of the twins. For Sixer, it was now, or else he’ll never live with himself at the death of one of his grand kids. That would be fun to watch.

Bill raised his other unnaturally stick-like arm and got ready to click his fingers that would cause atomic fission inside one of the children. And when he said ‘inside one of the children’, he obviously meant Shooting Star; he had decided from the start. That puny kid’s imagination and optimism could become a potential pain in one of his three sides. Plus, she was the happy-go-lucky roots that held the family together. Without her, all the Pines would send themselves to the wood chipper without Bill even doing anything. He laughed internally at his two tree jokes.

The being of pure energy edged his two clicking fingers close together, about to make them snap. The expressions on all the Pines’ countenances were glorious. The wait for destroying one of the members of the family had been long enough, but he wanted to cherish their despair in his infinite mind forever. His middle finger and thumb made frictional contact, “YOU—

“Wait,” Sixer yelled, relenting, “I surrender!”
Bill eyed his exiled disciple, “Good choice.”

Dropping Pine Tree and Shooting Star from his hand and letting them cry out when they hit the obsidian floor too hard, he shrunk down to a smaller scale and descended towards the older pair of twins inside his blue pentagon web cage. He was kind of disappointed that he was interrupted, but Bill was a fair guy. People who surrender get second chances – if they’re lucky enough to catch him in a pleasant mood, anyway.

“Don’t do it, Ford!” Sixer’s brother Crescent got hold of his coat and shook, trying to shake him out of his decision, “It’ll destroy the universe!”
“It’s the only way!” Sixer retorted grimly.

Bill laughed, clutching where his stomach would have been. Those two fighting between themselves was five-star comedy material, “Oh, even when you’re about to die you Pines twins just can’t get along!” Bill snapped his fingers, sparking blue fire, and made the pyramid cage split into its separate sides and lower into the ground with low grinding sounds. Bill sent a set of two glowing arms from the floor which whipped around Crescent, forcing him on his knees and holding him in place. The arms rapidly faded to the same black as Bill’s arms like a cherry red branding iron dipped into a freezing well.

“My only condition is that you let my brother and the kids go.” Stanford stated, pointing a finger at the sentient triangle. Bill closed his eye. He could accept that. It’s not like the Pines could interfere when the weirdness spread across the globe.
“Fine.” He raised a yielding hand to the request; his energy blinked as he replied.
From behind him, Pine Tree reached out a frantic hand to stop Sixer, which was all he could do with his bruised legs, “No, Grunkle Ford! Don’t trust him!” Boy, was Bill right about the undersized child being awfully persistent! Pine Tree’s efforts were simply ignored.

Bill floated up to his once best pupil and the man stepped towards him. Sixer was so obedient when it came down to it. Maybe if he didn’t rebel, things wouldn’t be this way. Actually, maybe it would’ve anyway. Going into his mind and sorting things out seemed like an unavoidable scenario. Maybe in a separate faraway universe, Ford stayed and became as powerful as Bill? Not like he cared about other versions of himself; it was this version and the fact that he was about to do a hand-shaking he had killed for that mattered.

But something seemed off.

Sure, Sixer appeared to be as confident as Bill himself most of the time, so his upright and unfazed face now wasn’t unexpected. But something was nagging him. He inwardly grimaced at the sense of something being amiss. It was anyone’s guess whether it was intuition or superstition, but it was definitely prodding and tugging at the back of Bill’s vast mindscape – and when he talked about ‘the back of’ his mindscape, that’s saying a lot. His mind is a forever-mutating-and-expanding bubble of history and cynical thoughts, and if something had the right to scratch at this bubble, it was a plot Ford had whipped up that Bill had overlooked.

He’ll test this theory.

“It’s a DEAL!” The dream demon lent a hand, lighting up with a hungry tongue of cyan flame. Sixer raised his arm slightly and hesitated in a phlegmatic fashion before he stretched out to take the deal—

As Sixer went to accept the offer, Bill swiftly flicked his arm upwards, out of the author’s reach. What came next genuinely surprised him.

Sixer reacted almost instantly and tried to grab at Bill’s hand. Actually tried. The man missed by a pencil width and staggered a bit. Bill blinked, confused, blinked again, before registering the situation. Bill nearly laughed out loud when he spotted the amount of fingers ‘Sixer’ had, a detail he had completely missed before he had experimented his doubt.

Oh, how Bill loved himself some plot twists.

“Aren’t you scared, ‘Ford’?” Bill tested, “About what I’m about to do to you?” ‘Ford’ grumbled, eyes narrowed, but stayed mute. Behind the so-called ‘Sixer’, ‘Crescent’s eyes widened in a mix of shock and realisation. He murmured an almost inaudible ‘oh no’, which only got Bill invisibly grinning even more since what he heard was definitely not the voice of Stanley Pines.

Extinguishing his dealing fire, the demon continued, crossing his arms behind his back, “I know you wanna save your family, but that just now? Geez, you must be real desperate, because it’s nothing like you. Or maybe…”

Bill pointed at ‘Crescent’, “It’s not you AT ALL!” He clicked.

The red fez atop of ‘Lee’s head caught on blue fire and morphed into a boiling and hissing mush which floated to the ceiling in splotches of the melted substance. There, revealed from under the fez, was the hair of the actual Stanford Pines. Bill could never mistake that greying trademark band across the back of his head.

Without giving the brothers time to make a move, he freed the real Sixer before instantaneously tightening him back into another one; blood red crystals mixed with sharpened deer teeth and centipede-legged protractors shaped around his legs and the right side of his body, leaving the left arm free. This left arm was shoved into a glossy, silver tetrahedron frame which floated waist-height above the dark-coloured floor bricks. Vibrating magnetic rings latched themselves around all Sixer’s six fingers, their attraction to the four-cornered structure making them painfully drive the author’s hand open. Bill titled his hand, ordering a metallic Gallium sludge to rain on Crescent, keeping him where he was.

Ignoring Ford’s grunts of pain, he commented in a complimentary manner as he tipped his black top hat, “Wow, Sixer. You almost got me that time! Hey, don’t mope like that! If it helps, maybe in an alternate reality, I would’ve fallen for it!” The rings pulled hard and Sixer gasped in agony.
“Grunkle Stan! Grunkle Ford!” The two twins, which Bill temporarily forgot about, had picked themselves up and where charging straight towards him. The energy triangle simply swiped his arm horizontally, a wave of telekinesis tripping the kids and sending them skidding across the tiles. Bill caused cages built of wavering octopus tentacles to lurch over them and stop them from coming closer.

Swivelling back to the man who used to be his follower, he physically extended the length of his arm to prod Sixer’s available shoulder mockingly, “That was your last trick you had up your sleeve, huh? Your last scheme to stop me.” Ford’s left arm trembled, as if he was trying to pull it out of the magnetic field. Fat chance.

“You’re trying too hard!” Bill shook his head/body, “All that effort… It just burns right in front of you!”
“B-Bill...” Sixer growled through gritted teeth, breaking a sweat as he continued to resist the rings’ attractive force.

“Would you calm down? If you just shake my hand, I’ll be able to unleash all the mysteries and anomalies across the face of the Earth, and that’s what you wanted, right? You wanted the world to know and praise your discoveries and not call you the ‘odd freak out’, right?” Bill pointed out before chuckling, “Not like you have any choice, since your hand’s kinda stuck in an electromagnetic gravitational nuclei-based field! I guess you could say you really had your rear handed to you, am I right?” Bill threw looks at all the Pines to see their reaction at his amazing joke. Crescent was attempting to fight his way out of the doughy goo on top of him, his face gaining more hopelessness by the second. Shooting Star was at tears as she sobbed silently, which was a rare treat. Pine Tree was still gripping the tentacle bars of his cell with white knuckles, but his firm position slipped into a tired and defeated slump.

Ironically, if the dream demon had a mouth, he would have frowned at the lack of applaud, “Huh. Tough crowd.”

“Bill!” Mabel shouted through her watery eyes, grasping the last of her sanguine attitude that was oozing out of her quickly, “D… Do you really need to take over the world? Would it make you happy? Is this what you really wanted?!”

Bill stopped at this. Would it make him happy? Ha, what a joke! Of course it would make him happy. A permanently-lasting party where no stupid rules could tell him to 'keep in line' or 'don’t kill people' was his ideal vacation – even deranged entities as powerful as him need to take breaks and break a few necks to satisfy their sadistic needs. But with humanity and its never-failing fails, never-working works and its inability to avoid repeating history in the question? Even Bill had to stop and ponder the real reason behind his objective of world domination.

“You should be thanking me, Shooting Star,” Bill retorted, “This so-called ‘precious’ world of yours was doomed to collapse on itself. You meat-sacks should know; making worthless pieces of entertainment celebrating its inevitable destruction should’ve at least dented your frustratingly-dense bricks you call brains. I just happen to have the common sense to nudge you into that grave you humans dug and decorated yourselves. I mean, if humanity was really that great, it would have armed Gravity Falls with military power and equal rights like the rest of the world, not cast out like some weirdo town that’s rejected by atlas-producing companies. Heck, you even have wars within wars against each other just because of your different eye colors. It’s saddening!

The little girl opened her mouth to protest but obviously had no comebacks. Bill was right about the ‘humanity not being so bright’ bit. He was always right about humanity, because he had been observing its development trillions of years ago through his countless peepholes in his chaotic haven, the deteriorating Nightmare Realm. When he had burned the Two-Dimension Dimension and found out he needed to take the next level up, he couldn’t believe his luck when he discovered how horribly incompetent the 3D universe was. He and his henchmaniacs found it amusing to watch humanity struggling to teach itself to walk; all it did was trip over itself every time it even went remotely close to the standard depiction of ‘far’.

Bill’s eye ‘smirked’, “See? As far as your dumb minds can go, I’m actually doing you a favour!”
Shooting Star gazed at her brother, her deep quivering pools of desperation longing him to think of reasoning against Bill’s highly logical points, but he came up with nothing and shook his head in his own disappointment.

Bill’s facial features and bowtie travelled down his body and placed themselves on his other side to face Ford, who had finally thought better of trying to pull away from the tetra-magnet. The old man’s breathing was rigid, like a criminal attempting to calm himself before a death sentence. Bill didn’t try to hold back one of his immoral chuckles this time.
“Sixer, stop acting so nervous! Admit it, you’ve been dying to shake my hand again, just like the first time we met,” The demonic triangle waved, ordering an oversized reptilian tongue to wriggle out of the Fearamid’s floor and lick Stanford’s chin. Sixer tried to recoil, forcing his downcast eyes to meet Bill’s.

“Those were the good old days, huh?” Bill projected blinks of flashbacks on his blue holographic screen, not unlike a vintage video camera. He displayed the time Bill first introduced Sixer to the unending mindscape and its unrealized potential. The frequent and intense chess games the two shared as they sipped cooling tea cups in furrowed concentration. That day when Ford dedicated a whole day transforming his study room into a walk-in worshipping shrine just to glorify the triangle’s tastes. Those little moments when the dedicated man was running into obstacles in his research, and before long the demon of energy was hovering by his shoulder jumping into assistance. Bill even dispensed jump-cut clips of their version of ‘Red-light, Green-light’, the victim being Fiddleford. Glasses McGucket had no idea what was coming his way – he would have liked the guy better if that pervert hadn’t caught Bill undressing out of his exoskeleton, though.

Other than that minor detail, the dream demon was quietly reminiscing in satisfaction. It could have been great, but fate didn’t really seem to approve of that kind of idea. He also might say the same for his about-to-be deal holder, who appeared as if emotions of melancholy, guilt and fury had punched his face multiple times. Noting Ford’s distress, he cancelled the holograms, deciding it best to stop tormenting him or else his mindscape might get too unstable.
“So,” Bill twirled his finger, letting a lone ember to dance around it and spread until it engulfed his hand, “how about that deal?” Sixer’s breathing was getting seriously heavy and… Was that a tear in his eye?

Sixer snapped, “Bill, no.” Ha, like Bill would listen.

Holding out his hand a few inches away from his traitorous follower, he painfully edged closer and closer to settle the deal.

Ford continued, his yelling getting more frequent and increasing in volume, “No, no, NO, NO, NO!

“Come on, Sixer. Let’s take a stroll through memory LANE!
Desc: Bill Cipher, the chaos-hungry dream demon preying on Gravity Falls, finally has the Pines family in his grasp. He can finally seal the deal that would make the world just like his self-destructing anarchic dimension, bringing a limitless celebration under his dictation. In the version of this story most of us know, Bill doesn't accomplish this goal and messes up. But what if Bill knew better? What if the dream demon's dreams finally come true?

Oh, also, I highly appreciate criticism for the fanfiction. I mean, the text isn't a draft, but it's very flexible to good advice and feedback, so please bash me and make me feel bad about myself till i cry in the corner about how terrible my writing skills are! Or shower me with compliments and flattery bc im probably gonna cry in the corner anyway hhhhhhhhhh

But please note that it won't be the best of it's kind?? but i don't think anyone's written about Twist Falls yet except me so this is the only one of its kind so ye

By the way, do any of you guys know an easy way to share posts with people that don't follow you? There was a LOT of people who favourited my Twist Fate: Bill Cipher post, so I wanted to link the fanfiction to them so they can read it and stuff, but I don't know how?? So because of this, if you are reading this right now, please share the fanfiction around to everyone you know so they can bash me even more! Thank you!!

Oh yeah, Twist Falls is owned by me. (man feels good to own something)
And Gravity Falls is owned by Alex Hirsch.

Do you think Bill would reward all four members of the Pines family by turning them into mythical creatures to make them more weird?

Probably?? But, if I were to continue this fanfic when I finally stop procrastinating, I'm not sure how I'd incorporate it into the story without over complicating the Pines (y'know, since the story is more based around Bill not them)... a Monster Falls AU crossover can definitely come out of this monstrosity I have typed tho!!

The reason I like it so much is because my very first art of you was twisted fate: Bill Cipher , and then I read the description and I think, wow, you must be either really deep or really creative. So then I checked out your other art and I loved it. I found the cover and I thought it was pretty cool, you know, an alternate universe like reverse falls, and I saw the link in the description so I clicked it. It makes so much sense! You are really creative, putting Bill as the good guy, and having a reason for it instead of just "what if". I love how Bill is the good guy, and I am freaking out thinking about the alternate universe that this world is in. TBH, Idk what to think about the pines being the bad guys but I suppose someone had to be the bad guys! SOOOOO GOOOD :D
Ps I hope you check out my DeviantArt account I do a little bit of Gravity Falls fan art because I just started my account recently and I hope you like it.
Again, REALLY GOOD TWISTED FALLS IS AWESOME
But Will is better.

Got to admit- when I looked up your entry in the Twist Fate thing a while back to see if you'd gone anywhere with this idea, I hadn't expected you to start writing it out.
I glanced over the other work since then, too. You're doing very well, both with the digital artwork and the physical artwork you did in October.

This is quite the interesting alternate universe. Any number of things could have happened if Bill figured out that Ford and Stan had switched places, none of them beneficial to the long-term health of the good guys, humanity, or Earth.
